Weekly Reflection: Rooted in Community, Plenty Good Room for FAITH

As we begin our stewardship journey at St. Matthew’s, it is worth reflecting on one of our greatest blessings: the gift of community. Stewardship is often associated with sharing our financial resources, but it is also about offering our time, our presence, our hospitality, and our care for one another.

At St. Matthew’s, we are blessed to be more than a congregation that gathers for worship each week. We are a community that nurtures relationships, shares life together, and cares deeply for one another.

Whether we are meeting at Coffee Hour after the service, at Book Club to discuss a good read, gathering for Bible Study to grow in faith, or coming together for Sips and Scripture to share conversation and reflection, these moments are about more than the activity itself. They are opportunities to build friendships, encourage one another, and strengthen the bonds that make our church family so special.

In a world where many people experience loneliness and disconnection, the Church is called to be a place of belonging. Scripture reminds us, “Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, but encouraging one another” (Hebrews 10:24-25). Every gathering, every conversation, and every shared prayer is a chance to live out this calling.

As we move through this week, let us give thanks for the friendships formed within our parish community. Let us reach out to someone who may need encouragement, welcome someone new into our circles, and continue to create spaces where all people feel seen, valued, and loved. May St. Matthew’s always be a place where relationships flourish, faith deepens, and God’s love is experienced through the care we show one another.

Prayer

Gracious God, thank You for the gift of community. Bless the friendships we share and the gatherings that bring us together. Help us to support one another with compassion, kindness, and love. May our parish be a welcoming home where all people find connection, encouragement, and the assurance of Your presence. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
